Watch videoFAQs
Can I use this frame size to embroider small items like baby onesies or pet bandanas?
The 17″ × 15.5″ (430 × 390 mm) magnetic hoop for Ricoma embroidery machines is relatively large, best suited for larger garments such as towels, jackets, or panels. You can still embroider smaller items by floating them on stabilizer within the hooping area. This method works well with MaggieFrame magnetic hoops and helps you maximize versatility without causing fabric distortion.
The magnetic frame has attracted broken needle tips or metal dust. What is the safest way to clean this debris off?
To safely clean your MaggieFrame magnetic hoop, avoid wiping it with bare hands. Instead, use a strong tape or sticky putty to dab and lift any metal fragments away. This prevents scratches or injury and protects the frame’s magnetic surface. Keeping the hoop surface clean ensures better magnetic grip and smoother machine embroidery results on Ricoma models like MT or TC series.
When using this magnetic frame, should the stabilizer be placed inside the frame or floated outside of it?
For most embroidery applications, it’s best to sandwich the stabilizer with your fabric inside the MaggieFrame magnetic hoop to maintain tight alignment. However, floating the stabilizer under the bottom hoop can be effective for thick or delicate fabrics that are difficult to clamp, especially when using Ricoma machine embroidery hoops during multi-layer projects.
Is this magnetic hoop heavier than the standard hoop? Will the extra weight add strain to my machine's motor?
The MaggieFrame magnetic hoop is slightly heavier than a standard tubular frame due to its internal magnets. Despite this, it is engineered to remain within the safe operating weight range of Ricoma embroidery machines, including MT and SWD series. The additional weight ensures better stability during stitching and does not cause extra strain on the machine motor.
